3D rendering of an easyScan
STM image of Highly Ordered Pyrolytic Graphite
(HOPG). The "bumps" represent individual
carbon atoms. The distance across the entire image
is 2 nm (20 angstroms).
The peaks are interpreted by the current from the
sample to the tip - in this case the high points represent
less than 0.5 nA (nanoAmps).
