The world's first battery-powered AFM introduced
Phoenix, AZ - Nanoscience Instruments today introduced the world's first battery-powered Atomic Force Microscope, the new Nanosurf® Mobile S. The new battery-powered Mobile S AFM is a successor to the original corded version which has gained popularity world-wide since its' introduction in August 2004.
The new battery-powered Mobile S features a rechargeable battery that provides up to five hours of run time. Add this new found mobility to an already compact and lightweight system (10.3 lb/4.7 kg), and the result is the most mobile AFM available today. No longer are precise nanoscale measurements restricted to a laboratory. Now, with only a laptop computer and a battery-powered Mobile S AFM, the world is your lab.
The battery-powered system can offer unique advantages even in a laboratory where power is readily available. By disconnecting the external power, electrical line noise is eliminated. Additionally, in areas prone to power interruption, brown-outs, or wide voltage variations, the Mobile S keeps working - assuming it is powered by a laptop or UPS-protected computer system.
Designed with the same user-friendly philosophy behind all Nanosurf AFMs, the battery-powered Mobile S features easy setup for minimal down time, a dual-view camera for quick and accurate positioning, a simplified software interface for intuitive data collection, and an integrated report generator for presenting your data.
The Swiss precision of the battery-powered Mobile S AFM enables research-grade investigations on a variety of nanoscale surfaces. Whether an application demands high-resolution measurements of atomic steps or angstrom-scale roughness, resolving corrugations of over a height range of 20 µm, or imaging a surface with significant curvature, the battery-powered Mobile S is up to the task. The Mobile S features the most commonly used AFM imaging modes including contact, dynamic force, phase contrast, force modulation, scanning spreading resistance, and force spectroscopy.
Combined with the newly introduced portable vibration isolators, which require no power, even vibrations in the field can be eliminated. The result is true mobility without sacrifice.
