The Mobile S AFM

The Next Generation AFM – Nanosurf Mobile S

Liestal, Switzerland - Nanosurf is proud to introduce the new all-in-one Mobile S, a versatile, portable, state of the art surface imaging device for the Nanometer Generation. This Swiss precision microscope makes three-dimensional measurements with nanometer resolution simple and affordable, visualising structures too small for optical microscopes on areas up to 110 x 110 µm. Its capabilities predestine it for roughness measurements, morphological inspection, tribology, failure and defect analysis on high-tech surfaces, quantitative evaluation of nanostructured surfaces or optical diffraction structures, and similar tasks.

The Nanosurf Mobile S was designed in keeping with the Nanosurf philosophy of making specialised measurements accessible to untrained laypersons. The swivel-snapping SensorGuard protects the measuring probe and scan head from damage, and the built-in DropStop makes changing the probe even easier. Measuring becomes an easy three-step process: precisely position the probe on the sample surface using the integrated video camera, image the surface features of interest, and generate a presentable measurement report with a Nanosurf Report template. And to top it off, the Mobile S software comes with a choice of three operating modes, from easy, for the cautious beginner, to advanced, for the seasoned pro.

Two different scan heads are available, depending on user preference. The high resolution scan head is able to measure atomic steps and roughness on an angstrom scale, whereas the large scan head can handle corrugations of over a dozen µm and significant sample curvature. Thanks to their palette of scan modes either scan head can measure a wide variety of samples – from hard ceramics to fragile butterfly wings – without special sample preparation, and their compact, standalone design allows measurement of oversized or immobile samples. Of course, it is possible to take spectroscopy in any mode, even in combination with the freely configurable user input or sync pulse output signals.
