Software Modules


In addition to the full package, SPIP is available by custom configuring it to suit your needs. Rather than paying for features that you don't need, we allow you to choose only the modules that you want.


 

Bare Necessities
Basic Module
Includes Visualization of image files (supporting most common SPM file formats and some profilometers and interference microscopes), LMS polynomial plane correction, Cross-section profile analysis, Histogram, Fourier Transform, Auto-correlation, Rotation, Copy, print and Save functions. Color palette editing, Zoom, Mirror, On-line Help, CD and printed manual. Note that plain 3D is no longer included in the basic module.

Organize and stream-line
ImageMet Explorer Module A productivity tool that adds a new dimension to image and data handling. It contains an integrated database that allows you to browse quickly through your data files and view them as thumbnails.
Image characteristics are automatically entered to the database from where they can be retrieved on the fly while browsing your files. Furthermore, important analytical results from SPIP can automatically be stored in the database so that you never loose important results. You have the flexibility to enter descriptions, assign categories or create hyperlinks to individual files.

ImageMet Explorer integrates three sub-programs sharing the database:
The ImageMet Browser, by which you can browse through your files with thumbnail view and send images to the SPIP main program
The ImageMet Finder, which allows you to search the database for files with certain characteristics or e.g. numerical results within defined ranges.
The ImageMet Reporter, which can create image lists in HTML format containing optional characteristics stored in the data base.
Batch Processing and Active Reporter Module

Increase your productivity. Design processing sequences easily by mouse clicks and apply them on hundreds of images. No programming skills required. Automated reporting of images and numerical results to HTML files

With the new Active Reporter you create custom designed word reports based on templates.
 

Calibrate and Characterize
Calibration Module Automated X,Y and Z calibration, Off-line Correction, Sub-pixel detection of unit cells, Sub-pixel characterization of non-linearity, rotation of image to align lattice or line structures to the axes.
Z-Measurement by an ISO 5436 Based Profile Analysis
Tip Characterization Module Characterize the tip or stylus by blind reconstruction, generate Certainty Maps and reconstruct the surface by "Tip Deconvolution". To get the best performance we recommend to combine this module with the Filter module and the 3D Visualization Studio.
 
Measure and Analyze
Extended Fourier Analysis Module Interactive filtering, measurement of pitch, unit cells, line structures, diagnosing time domain noise and vibrations
Roughness Analysis Module 22 parameters (including the "Birmingham 14"), Abbott curve, radial spectrum, angular spectrum, integrated radial spectrum, Fractal analysis and rose plots
Force Curve Analysis Module Force measurements has now become easier. From deflection data SPIP can automatically calculate Force( Separation ) and other graphs and the zoom and cursor facilities makes it easy to perform detailed measurements. Worm Like Chain Modeling
Filter Module A comprehensive set of tools for design of optimized filters. Use the filters for getting nice presentations and robust measurements. Apply the ISO standard filters and calculate Roughness parameters as described in the standards. Works also on profiles and force curves. Possible to chain predefined filters in batch processing. Outlier Objects Filter can reconstruct surface structures covered by contamination or distorted by spikes
Grain Analysis Module Automated Grain, Particle and Pore detection and analysis.
Multiscale Watershed segmentation, interactive adjustment of detection parameters with instant response.
Interactive tools for splitting, merging and rejecting detected segments
Correlation Averaging Module Z-calibration and enhancement of structures overlaid by noise, Cross correlation analysis for detection of random distributed features.
CITS Continuous Imaging Tunneling Spectroscopy Module Visualize and handle I/V spectroscopy data. Extract individual I/V curves from the topographic or CITS Volume Image. Transform I/V data into conductivity (dI/dV) or the Density of States (dI/dV * V/I) data. Supports CITS data from Digital Instruments, RHK and Omicron.
 
Presentation

Movie & Time Series Analysis Module

Create movie and slide shows from an image series. Combine different views: Top View image, Difference image, 3D view, Export to AVI or MPEG: single view or Screen dump. Include Zoom, Cross section profiles, Histograms, Cross Section Fourier in analysis and export. Achieve quality results by using SPIP’s correction functions, e.g. drift and plane correction.
3D Visualization Module

Interactive rotation, scaling and positioning of images in 3D space, Emulation of multiple light sources. New 3D Animation utilities for easy creation of 3D movies in .avi or .mpeg files.

Customize
Plug-in Interface for Programmers Module

Create your own code and interface to SPIP. Retrieve Images or curves from SPIP windows and perform specialized analysis, Manipulate data and send them back to the SPIP, create new data, from, e.g., your own on-line scanner, and view them in the SPIP windows as curves, 2D or 3D images. Get all the advantages of the SPIP processing features including file handling and visualization while you concentrate on your own specialized data processing and data creation functions.
Easy access to your plug ins by definitions of associated buttons that will appear on the SPIP Menu Bar. Comes with project generation wizards for Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 and Visual Basic and a Borland C++Builder 5.0 project example.
Now batch processes can be started from a plug ins.
