SHOCON AFM probes by Applied Nanostructures have a shorter cantilever than type SICON and are designed for general contact mode applications. They feature a typical tip radius of only 6 nm and are one of the sharpest probes in this price range.

SHOCON probes are manufactured from highly-doped, monolithic silicon to dissipate static charge and increase durability. Their industry-standard chip design permits use with all standard AFM chip holders and also the pre-aligned holders on Nanosurf AFMs*.

For improved laser reflectivity, SHOCON probes can be ordered with an aluminum (A) or gold (G) reflex coating on the back side of the cantilever*. They're also available with an overall gold coating (GG) covering both sides of the cantilever, including the tip.

SHOCON probes can also be ordered with:
- Super Sharp AFM tips (< 2 nm radius)
- No tip (bare cantilever)

*Reflex coating is required for Nanosurf AFMs .
