Job Description

We are looking to hire a WordPress Developer/Designer to join our growing marketing team. Ultimately, you will be responsible for redesigning, building, implementing, and maintaining attractive, user-friendly websites and webstores that meet the design and functionality specifications as determined by our marketing team. You will need experience in WordPress and WooCommerce development and should be able to quickly identify and implement appropriate, up-to-date solutions. You will be responsible for both back-end and front-end development including the implementation of themes and plugins as well as site integration and security updates. In addition to working on websites, you will be involved in many different areas of digital marketing which may include SEO optimization, Google ad words, social media, HTML email templates, basic image editing, and digital asset management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Build, implement, and manage attractive, user-friendly websites using WordPress
  • Build, implement, and manage attractive, user-friendly webstores using WooCommerce
  • Manage both back-end and front-end website development
  • Be able to install, adapt, and update WordPress/WooCommerce themes and plugins
  • Collaborate with team members on the planning and development of website/webstore content architecture
  • Establish UX/UI design deliverables through block diagrams, wireframes, sitemaps, and user experience maps/flow
  • Research, explore and share any UI/UX trends, updates and relevant innovations
  • Convert approved designs to functional, responsive, web/mobile templates and pages
  • Maintain a consistent, organized Media Library/asset management
  • Work strategically with content and marketing teams to ensure effective page optimization, usability, and brand adherence
  • Monitor the performance of the live websites/webstores
  • Troubleshoot and resolve website problems
  • Use CRM, Email Marketing and other third-party tools and platforms
  • Be open to learning new systems and practices

Competency

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Proven work experience as a WordPress developer and designer
  • Knowledge of front-end technologies including CSS3, JavaScript, HTML5, and jQuery
  • Good understanding of website architecture and aesthetics
  • Demonstrate mastery in creating page layouts
  • Experience implementing website Contact Forms and managing gated content
  • Knowledge of customer service portals, logins, and managing roles and assets
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively within a small team to build websites and webstores
  • Good communication skills and a positive disposition
  • Organized and efficient, paying close attention to details while handling multiple tasks
  • Knowledge and experience in these areas is a plus: SEO optimization, Google ad words, social media, HTML email templates, basic image editing, and digital asset management
  • An added plus is having experience with technical product marketing, or having an interest in science/new technology and would enjoy working with a small team of like-minded people

Education / Experience

  • BS Degree in a related field preferred
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience
