Imaging optical modes in semiconductor nanoparticles

Summary:

Similar to their metallic counterparts, semiconductor nanoparticles and nanowires have the ability to strongly confine light. Due to their inherent properties, they can easily be integrated in optoelectronic semiconductor devices such as solar cells and LEDs in which they can serve as an anti-reflection coating or light outcoupling layer [1]. Additionally, they act as efficient nanoantennas which can be utilized in metamaterials and metasurfaces that mold the flow of light at the nanoscale.
