Nanoscience Instruments announces a new product offering with the Phenom XL SEM, a compact scanning electron microscope (SEM) for large sample sizes. The new Phenom XL SEM includes options for energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) for elemental analysis and a secondary electron detector (SED) for surface and topography sensitive imaging.
“We are delighted to announce the new Phenom XL SEM. It sustains the high speed and ease of use the Phenom is known for and adds the capacity for large samples as well,” says Mark Flowers, co-founder of Nanoscience Instruments.
Nanoscience Instruments is pleased to offer the new Phenom XL scanning electron microscope (SEM) in the US and Canada. The Phenom XL SEM from Phenom-World is the first desktop SEM that offers full imaging of samples up to 100 mm x 100 mm. A newly developed compact motorized stage enables the user to scan the full sample area, yet keeps the SEM small enough to fit on a standard table. The combination of the motorized XY stage with the Phenom programming interface software is a powerful package, allowing the user to automate measurements across multiple samples and locations
The user interface is based on proven technology from the successful Phenom Pro and ProX desktop series. The ease of use is given an extra boost with a newly designed “single-shot” optical navigation camera that allows the user to move to any spot on the sample with just a single click – within seconds.
“I am delighted to announce the XL. It will allow our customers to experience the same speed and ease of use they appreciate in a Phenom, but now for large samples as well,” says Emile Asselbergs, CEO of Phenom-World.
Elemental analysis can be added by the EDS technology already proven on the Phenom ProX. An optional secondary electron detector is available for applications that require surface and topography sensitive imaging.
“The Phenom XL will redefine the meaning of the words ‘desktop SEM’,” according to Jos Maas, Product Marketing Director of Phenom-World. “In spite of its compact size, it can handle samples that would normally require a bulky floor model SEM. The Phenom XL can do the same but at much higher throughput and much lower costs.”
