CB Pro Conveyor Belt

Polymer Micro-Compounding

Conveyor Belt Pro

The Xplore Conveyor Belt Pro (CB Pro) is designed to guide polymer strands directly from a micro-compounder or small extruder. It is compatible with all Xplore micro-compounder models, including the MCX 5, MCX 15, MC 15 HT, and MC 40. The CB Pro features a non-stick PTFE conveyor belt, ensuring the controlled and consistent handling of fragile, nascent polymer strands. This prevents breakage or deformation while maintaining the polymer’s intended shape for further analysis or direct feeding into a small pelletizer.

Delicate handling and guiding of polymer extrudate

The Xplore Conveyor Belt Pro is designed to support and guide polymer strands directly from micro-compounder or small extruder dies, ensuring controlled handling of delicate, freshly extruded material. The system integrates seamlessly with all Xplore Micro-Compounders, including MCX and MC series models, enabling a streamlined workflow from extrusion to downstream processing.

Product Features

Controlled Strand Transport and Cooling

Unlike conventional extrusion into a water bath, the CB Pro uses a non-stick, temperature-resistant PTFE conveyor belt to transport the polymer strand. The strand is gently drawn away from the die while still in a semi-molten state, allowing it to cool gradually in a straight, controlled path. This approach minimizes strand breakage, deformation, and surface defects, preserving strand integrity and ensuring consistent geometry for subsequent steps.

Adjustable Processing for Maximum Flexibility

The CB Pro features fully adjustable belt speed, allowing precise control over strand draw-down conditions. With a wide operating window and draw rates as low as 1 m/min, the system can be tailored to a broad range of polymer types and processing requirements. This flexibility enables researchers to optimize cooling profiles and strand handling for different materials, including temperature-sensitive or brittle polymers.

Enhanced Process Stability and Integration

By maintaining consistent strand transport and cooling, the CB Pro improves process stability and reproducibility in laboratory-scale extrusion. The system can also be retrofitted into existing extrusion setups, providing a versatile upgrade for R&D environments. An optional transparent hood with inert gas purging can be added to generate an oxygen-free environment, minimizing thermal or oxidative degradation during strand cooling.
